Winners of Aliante 2007 Competition visit Embassy

On October 2, winners of the Aliante 2007 project, an international competition on security policy and transatlantic cooperation, visited the Embassy of Latvia. The students from Latvia represented various high schools from Riga, Jelgava, and other regions.

At the Embassy the students met with Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics and First Lieutentant Karlis Lidaks.

The Aliante project is a unique international academic competition for high school students. The goal is to promote a greater understanding of international security issues, including transatlantic cooperation among NATO members. The competition involves two person student teams competing on knowledge tests about issues of international secruity and NATO. The final winners' prize consitsts of an international trip to places that are not usually open to the general public. This year's winners are visiting Norfolk, Virginia and Washington, DC.
