Appointed ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics meets with Deputy Secretary of State

On July 18, 2007 Andrejs Pildegovics, who has been appointed as Latvia's ambassador to the United States, presented a copy of his letter of accreditation to Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte, informing Mr. Negroponte that he is now assuming his duties as Latvia's ambassador to Washington. He is scheduled to present his credentials to President George W. Bush on July 25.

Prior to assuming his position as ambassador, Mr. Pildegovics served as Chief of Staff to former President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga.
