On February 1, 2010 Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics and Military Attache Juris Bezzubovs hosted students from the National Defense University (NDU) at the Embassy of Latvia. The students represented various U.S. military and civil structures. During the meeting, the NDU students were briefed on Latvia’s foreign policy priorities and on current issues regarding defense, economic and energy cooperation between Latvia and the U.S. The students also had the opportunity to view video footage of Latvia. The NDU representatives expressed particular interest in Latvia’s position regarding the preparation of NATO’s new strategic concept, and were very interested in hearing more about Latvia’s contribution to international peace-keeping missions and to cooperation between the Baltic countries regarding promotion of energy security.
