A delegation of cultural representatives, lead by Solvita Zvidrina, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Latvia, visited Mexico from December 9-14, 2006. The delegation met with the Mexican Cultural Department, the National Art Center and directors of various museums. On November 8 in Mexico City the Embassy of Latvia, in cooperation with Latvia’s Honorary Consul in Mexico Beatrice Aboltina-Trueblood, held a reception in honor of the Latvian National Opera’s concert tour in Mexico. The Latvian National Opera is visiting Mexico at the invitation of the ArsTempo producciones Agency. The Latvian National Opera performed four concerts in Mexico, and was represented by the following well-known soloists: Kristīne Gailīte, Sonora Vaice, Kristīne Opolais, Antra Bigača, Samsons Izjumovs, Emils Ivanovs, Egils Siliņš and Viesturs Jansons. The soloists were accompanied by a choir and orchestra, lead by conductor Mārtiņš Ozoliņš.
