Embassy of Latvia participates in Euronight

On September 18, 2009 the Embassy of Latvia participated in Euro Night, a European Union cultural event. EU Embassies joined together at the Embassy of France to introduce guests to their particular cultural and culinary traditions, and to the tourism possibilities in each of the countries.

Diplomats from Latvia offered guests the opportunity to taste "’piragi" (Latvian-style bacon rolls), rye bread with honey, and "Latvijas balzams." They also had to opportunity to view videos and printed material prepared and provided by the Latvian Institute. Euronight was attended not only by Americans, but also by Europeans living in the United States. Proceeds from the evening will go toward the realization of joint EU cultural projects in the United States.

The Embassy of Latvia is grateful to businessman and professor Janis Melngailis for his support in this event. This is the second year Latvia participated in this event.
