On April 27, 2006 the Embassy of Latvia hosted fifteen children along with their parents who work at the U.S. Department of State as part of the "Take Your Child to Work Day". This visit to the Embassy gave the children an opportunity to learn about the responsibilities of Latvia's diplomats in the United States. Ambassador Maris Riekstins welcomed the youngsters to the Embassy's new building, and presented an introduction to Latvia-U.S. relations. The group toured the public floors of the Embassy, and received a briefing on the history of the new Chancery building, as well as an overview of the history and culture of Latvia.
