Embassy diplomats participate in "Race for the Cure" in Washington

On Saturday, June 7 Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics, together with diplomats and staff of the Embassy of Latvia, participated in the Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure - 5K Walk/Run. The event took place on the National Mall in Washington, DC and is for raising awareness of Breast Cancer.

Ambassador Pildegovics, Agnese Kalnina, Inga Ozola, Lasma Ozola, Valdis Bormanis and Svetlana Bormane - representing the Embassy of Latvia team - ran and completed Saturday's race. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice also participated in the race.

More than 50,000 participants from across the United States, including more than 3,500 breast cancer survivors, joined together at the 5K event as a living testament to the power of one person making a difference. Funds raised through the Komen National Race are invested in breast cancer research and community-based outreach programs.
