On July 25, 2007 at the White House, Mr. Andrejs Pildegovics presented his credentials to President George W. Bush, and on May 8, 2008 at the National Palace of Mexico presented his credentials to President Felipe Calderon. Prior to his appointment as Latvia's Ambassador to the US, Mr. Pildegovics served as Chief of Staff to President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga.

From November 2007 to April 2010 Ambassador Riekstins served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, he also served as Latvia's Ambassador to the U.S. from December 2004 - January 2007. He has also been State Secretary in Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Latvia's Ambassador to Mexico and Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister.
