On April 17, 2007 a delegation representing the Bauska region municipal government visited the Embassy. The delegation is in the US on an exchange visit, during which it will have the opportunity to visit local governments in various states in the US. The delegation included Chairpersons of the Bauska Municipal Council and Bauska City Council, as well as local municipality leaders and business representatives from the Bauska region. The delegation learned about the work of the Embassy of Latvia and about current issues in US-Latvia relations, and also toured the Embassy. The members of the delegation explained that they are in the US to gain insight into the procedures American local governments and observe how various issues are handled. The delegation will be in the US until April 21.
