On October 25 Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics met with Mr. Janis Birks, Mayor of Riga and Ms. Solvita Zvidrina, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture. The Ambassador gave the delegation a tour of the Embassy premises, and discussed possibilities of further cooperation. The delegation also visited the Exhibition of Latvian National Costumes at Union Station. The exhibit has been organized by the Embassy of Latvia in cooperation with National Costume Center „Sena klets” in honor of 85 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Latvia and the US. Riga City Council is one of the sponsors of the exhibit. In Washington the delegation met with representatives responsible for tourism at the Commerce Department, the director of National Geographic, and visited the Kennedy Center. The delegation will be in the United States through November 3, and will visit New York, Boston, Charleston (South Carolina) and New Orleans.
