Ambassador meets with members of MIT Club of Washington, DC

On May 17, 2006 Ambassador Maris Riekstins met with members of the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Alumni Club of Washington, D.C. Ambassador Riekstins discussed Latvia's foreign policy issues, including the Latvian-U.S. bilateral relationship; the upcoming Washington visit of Latvia's President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, who will be addressing the U.S. Congress next month; the upcoming NATO summit to be held this November in Riga; and Latvia's membership in the European Union.

The group's visit coincides with Europe Day in Washington. During the month of May, European Union embassies are meeting with Americans to inform them about their countries and the European Union.
