"Amber Gateway" is a vision of the Nordic-Baltic area in a new Europe - secure, undivided and free. It is a formula for Latvian foreign policy objectives aimed at closer cooperation between the countries around the Baltic Sea and stronger involvement of the United States in the Baltic Region. Latvian Foreign Minister (November 1997): The Amber Gateway is a co-operative network of markets, linked by ports and airports, fuelled by free enterprise and supported by democratic governments sharing a common vision of peace, trade and prosperity. Institutions, publications and people share and develop their vision of and act together for the future of the Baltic sea region.
